Designer Spotlight: Meredith Potthast

We love our unique and talented team here at Lisa Lynn Designs and we especially love how they all bring something different to our firm and add diversity for the different styles and needs of our clients. One of our interior designers, Meredith, is sharing her background and her top tips for interior design. We love her bubbly personality and so do our clients!

Meredith, who is originally from the Washington D.C. area, moved to Louisville with her husband (and adorable pug, Daisy) back in 2015. She immediately began working with our team and has grown in her talents since joining LLDS. After graduating from High Point University in North Carolina, Meredith worked in the industry gaining experience in home staging and re-design, organization, and architecture, as well as working at the High Point, North Carolina Furniture Market. Currently Meredith works with clients helping them design their dream home, whether it be designing a beautiful living space or working with residential home builders and contractors.

Outside of the office and the world of design, Meredith and her husband enjoy traveling and working on their cape-cod style home they purchased after moving to Louisville. Meredith also loves swimming for exercise and is a licensed scuba diver which she enjoys with her father. “I really love trying all the local restaurants and breweries in Louisville. I love the foodie-ness of this city!”

Meredith’s top tips when it comes to interiors:
“When designing to meet a client’s needs, either for a particular room or an entire home, these are a few things I always consider:

First, bring symmetry into each space. Whether it is with wall art, lamps, or furniture items, this creates balance and continuity in the room.

Next, I love to blend materials and shapes! To utilize the space, I often mix a round upholstered ottoman with rectangular wood end tables in a family room, for example.

Be sure to incorporate different textures and patterns as well. My husband may say I overdo it at times, but don’t be afraid to select a fun, bright-colored accent piece to add to a room! I enjoy having fun with the space I’m designing. Bringing in a bold or eclectic piece such as an ottoman, lamp, art or end table.

Lastly, add greenery. A potted plant or flowers in a room is a great way to bring life and freshness to the space.”
